Yep… they do require a picture ID if you want to change your email address. Here’s what happened…
So, I was testing out this add to any app that provides a button for sharing your blog post. I tried a couple to Facebook and Twitter … they worked fine.
Then I decide to try MySpace … that’s when the fun started. You see I haven’t used Myspace since I created the page a couple of ISP’s ago … so the email address was no good … I figured I would update the email address to one that works … I mean … look … Zooey Deschanel has a Myspace page … and well …… you never know. Zooey … honey if you’ve been trying to reach me … I’m so sorry … I never got your message …
So I get this email address menu page…
After I put in a new address and don’t get any email … I see it saying it is going to send an email to the obsolete address … fat lotta good that’s gonna do me.
So then I find this other link that says I can email customer support to change my email address. It brings up another form box … which I fill out and vent in …
So… all done? Not on your life … I get a popup response box …. saying the reply has been sent to… You guessed it ….. my old email address.
Now here comes the zinger … since neither their regular email address change form or their customer support change form will let me change the address … they have offered their version of the homeland security method. You get your camera, a piece a cardboard and a magic marker .. write your Myspace ID on the cardboard and while holding it in front of you (I suggest over your head so you can look extra stupid) take a picture and email it to customer support. Seriously folks … who wants to be on MySpace that badly?
Listen … I’m not kidding … really … I know its unbelievable … but here it is…
